Im 3. Jahr macht Michel Blanc nun seine eigenen Weine der Domaine Arnia in Bonnieux am Luberon Gebirge. Eigentlich kennt man ihn schon seit mehr als 30 Jahren als Direktor des Winzerverbandes von Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Der wohl renommiertesten Appellation der südlichen Rhone.
Im ersten Jahr 2020 machte er nur einen Rotwein, 2021 kam ein Rosé dazu und 2022 wurde auch ein weißer gekeltert.
Aufmerksam auf seine Weine wurde ich in seiner Timeline auf Facebook. Im Juni 2023 habe ich Michel in seinem Büro in Châteauneuf-du-Pape besucht und er gab mir seine Kollektion an Weinen zum Verkosten mit.
Domaine Arnia 2022 blanc Ventoux
Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Rolle (Vermentino)
Sehr helles Gelb im Glas.
In der Nase frisch floral mit anfangs etwas künstlich wirkender heller Frucht, Eisbonbon?
Sehr schöne Mineralität! Man riecht förmlich die Steine.
Im Mund sehr angenehm, die Aromen aus dem Bouquet finden sich wieder.
Schöne Salzigkeit und Frische im Abgang.
Auch über mehrere Tage getrunken, bietet er Genuss.
Insgesamt ein schöner eleganter Wein, eher für leichte Speisen wie grüne Blattsalate oder milden Fischgerichten.
Er erinnert mich an den „Le deux Albion“ von Saint Cosme.
ENGLISH:
Very pale yellow in the glass.
Fresh floral nose with initially somewhat artificial light fruit, ice candy?
Very nice minerality! You can literally smell the stones.
Very pleasant in the mouth, the aromas from the bouquet are found again.
Nice saltiness and freshness in the finish.
Even drunk over several days, it offers pleasure.
All in all, a nice elegant wine, rather for light dishes like green leaf salads or mild fish dishes.
It reminds me of the „Le deux Albion“ from Saint Cosme.
Domaine Arnia 2021 Rosé Luberon
Syrah, Vermentino
Lebhaftes und klares Orange-Rosa im Glas.
In der Nase anfangs Orangenschale und feines südfranzösisches typisches Roséaroma.
Im Mund auch ein sehr schmeichelnder typischer Rosé. Im vergleich zum Weißen etwas weniger Säure spürbar. Neben leichter Beerenfrucht auch deutliche Salzigkeit.
Auch hier kein Problem ihn über mehrere Tage zu genießen.
Rundum ein gelungener eleganter Rosé, dem es an nichts fehlt und der sich nicht hinter der provenzalischen Konkurrenz verstecken muss.
ENGLISH:
Lively and clear orange-pink in the glass.
In the nose initially orange peel and fine typical southern French rosé aroma.
In the mouth also a very flattering typical rosé. Compared to the white, a little less acidity is noticeable. Besides light berry fruit, there is also a distinct saltiness.
Again, no problem to enjoy it over several days.
All in all, a successful, elegant rosé that lacks nothing and does not have to hide behind its Provençal competitors.
Domaine Arnia 2021 rouge Ventoux
Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre
Sehr dunkles Rot mit violetten Reflexen zeigt deutlich seine Jugendlichkeit.
In der Nase zeigt er sich auch noch sehr jung, aber vielschichtig. Laktische Noten, Himbeere, Hagebutte und auch dunkle Beeren, etwas Rauch und Tabak dazu Steinstaub.
Im Mund anfangs recht trocken und etwas bitter im Abgang, gut eingebundener Alkohol (15% Vol.), schöne Frische wodurch er eine schöne Leichtigkeit hat. Gutes Tanningerüst. Auch am 3. Tag zeigt er, dass er noch viel Zeit braucht, um seine ganze Qualität zu zeigen. Auf jeden Fall ein paar Jahre im Keller reifen lassen.
ENGLISH:
Very dark red with violet reflections clearly shows its youthfulness.
The nose is also still noticeably young, but complex. Lactic notes, raspberry, rosehip and also dark berries, some smoke and tobacco plus stone dust.
In the mouth initially quite dry and a little bitter in the finish, well integrated alcohol (15% vol.), nice freshness which gives it a nice lightness. Good tannin structure. Also on the 3rd day it shows that it still needs a lot of time to show its full quality. In any case, let it mature in the cellar for a few years.

Grenache, Mourvedre
Schönes intensives dunkles Rot im Glas.
In der Nase sehr spannend. Deutliche Würze, Grapefriut, Peffer und etwas Lakritze.
Im Mund findet man die Würze wieder, gutes harmonisches Mundgefühl, schöne Säure und Salzigkeit im Abgang.
Das Tanningerüst etwas zurückhaltender als beim 2021er, was ihn jetzt schon trinkbarer macht aber trotzdem mit der Säure ein langes Leben verleiht. Persönlich gefällt mir der 2020er besser als der 2021er.
ENGLISH:
Beautiful intense dark red in the glass.
Very exciting on the nose. Clear spice, grapefruit, pepper and some liquorice.
In the mouth you find the spice again, good harmonious mouthfeel, nice acidity and saltiness in the finish.
The tannin structure is a little more restrained than in the 2021, which makes it more drinkable now but still gives it a long life with the acidity.
Personally, I like the 2020 better than the 2021.
